SIX SIGNS GIVEN BY JESUS TO INDICATE HIS COMING AND THE END OF THE AGE
[...] by The Jerusalem Connection - November 12, 2009 - End Times / Prophecy by Contender Ministries
www.contenderministries.org
In Matthew24:3 Jesus was asked, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?” Jesus told his apostles to look for the following signs prior to his second coming and the end of the age.
1. FALSE PROPHETS AND CHRISTS
Matthew 24:5 “For many will come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and will mislead many.”
Matthew 24:11 “And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many.”
In the last several years many have claimed to be the Messiah. Jim Jones and David Koresh are examples of these false christs as well as countless others who are not as newsworthy. These false prophets are a prelude to the ultimate false christ, the antichrist. Many New Age groups, some even NGO’s working for the United Nations, are anxiously awaiting the antichrist, preparing the way for his acceptance as the head of the hierarchy of gods and the one who will usher in world peace.
2. WARS
Matthew 24:6 “And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.” Rumors of wars in all areas of the world now occur frequently thanks to instant media coverage and the availability of a multitude of 24-hour news sources. Matthew 24:7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.”
More people have been killed in warfare in this century than at any other time in history. As the death toll rises in the Middle East, more and more countries work feverishly to develop devastating weapons of mass destruction. Add to that the expanding threat of terrorism and unpredictable dictators such as Saddam Hussein, and the potential for the outbreak of war exists in nations, kingdoms and places across the globe.
3. FAMINES
Matthew 24:7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” As white, Christian farmers are driven out of Zimbabwe in increasing numbers, and foreigners move in to replace life-sustaining crops with poppies that now supply 25% of the worlds drugs, famine spreads across the African continent. The undernourished are not limited to Africa, however. A large portion of the worlds 5 billion people suffers from a shortage of food.
4. EARTHQUAKES
Matthew 24:7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” The number and intensity of earthquakes this century is at a level higher than any other time in history. A staggering number of seismic events occur around the world daily. The earthquake seismic monitor IRIS shows all major earthquakes for the last year. Indicated by yellow and red circles, the seismic events of the last 15 days provides strong evidence of the fulfillment of Matthew 24:7 in our day. By contrast, in the years from 1890 to 1900 there was only one major earthquake in the world.
5. TRIBULATIONS
Matthew 24:8-9 “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of my name.” Christians are under attack throughout the world today. In the United States Christians still enjoy freedom to worship God without suffering much more than ridicule, hatred, or discrimination at work and school. However in many other countries such as China, Sudan, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Russia, and many Muslim nations, Christian suffer much greater persecution and often times death for their faith. During the tribulation this suffering will be worldwide and will continue even to the point of martyrdom. These first 5 signs will increase in intensity and severity as the tribulation approaches, much like the birth pangs or contractions of a pregnant woman worsen as the delivery time approaches.
6. THE GOSPEL WILL BE PREACHED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.” This prophecy has already been fulfilled through television, radio, missionaries, the translation of the Bible into many languages, and the internet. People all over the world now hear the message of Christ from missionaries who have the means to travel the globe, and via technology that allows us to communicate with people on the other side of the world right from our own homes, churches and offices. Luke 21:28 “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
Luke 21:32 “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.”

WHY DO WE BLOW ONE HUNDRED SHOFAR BLASTS ON ROSH HASHANAH? By Eliezer Posner - There are different customs as to how many times the shofar is blown on Rosh Hashanah. In most communities, the shofar is blown one hundred times. Here’s how we arrive at that number: The Torah tells us to blow a teruah from a shofar on Rosh Hashanah. A teruah is a broken-sounding blast which resembles a cry. This commandment is repeated in three different places.1 The Talmud understands this repetition to imply that we must hear three teruahs. The Talmud also derives from other scriptural verses that each teruah must have a simple, unbroken blast (called a tekiah) before and after it.2 Thus the Torah requires us to blow nine blasts, as follows:
tekiah, teruah, tekiah
tekiah, teruah, tekiah
tekiah, teruah, tekiah.
The problem is that the word teruah can have multiple meanings. The Talmud tells us that there are three possibilities: It can mean several extremely short blasts, similar to how one would ululate in a tragic situation. Or it can mean three somewhat longer blasts, similar to how one would moan when he has great worries. A third possibility is that the teruah the Torah mentions is both of these cries together: a moan, followed by an ululation.3 Today the moan-like sound is known as shevarim, and the ululation as teruah. To make sure that we cover all bases, we blow all the different possible teruahs with a tekiah before and after each one, in the following order:
tekiah, moan-ululation, tekiah
tekiah, moan-ululation, tekiah
tekiah, moan-ululation, tekiah
tekiah, moan, tekiah
tekiah, moan, tekiah
tekiah, moan, tekiah
tekiah, ululation, tekiah
tekiah, ululation, tekiah
tekiah, ululation, tekiah
By blowing these thirty blasts, we fulfill our scriptural obligation. To understand the reason for the next sixty blasts, we need a little background information about the Musaf Amidah of Rosh Hashanah. The Talmud tells us that G-d says to us on Rosh Hashanah, “Say before Me [verses whose themes are] sovereignty, remembrances and shofar. Sovereignty, so that you should crown Me king over you; remembrances, so that I should remember you for good; and with what? With a shofar.” 4
Following this rubric, the Musaf Amidah includes one blessing about G-d’s sovereignty, another about how He remembers His creation, and a third about the power of the call of the shofar. After each of these three blessings, we blow ten blasts on the shofar:
tekiah, moan-ululation, tekiah
tekiah, moan, tekiah
tekiah, ululation, tekiah
Thus the shofar is blown thirty times during the Musaf Amidah.
When the chazzan repeats the Amidah, he repeats these three blessings—about sovereignty, remembrance and shofar—and the shofar is blown after each one, in the same order.
By now we’ve accounted for ninety blasts: thirty before the Amidah, thirty during the silent Amidah, and thirty during the chazzan’s repetition of the Amidah. It is customary to blow yet another ten blasts after the repetition of the Amidah, for a total of one hundred blasts.5
To understand the mystical significance of the one hundred blasts, check out One Hundred Sounds.
With wishes for an uplifting Rosh Hashanah and a sweet new year,
Rabbi Eliezer Posner

PROPHETIC JERUSALEM GATHERING OF WORLD LEADERS AT PERES' FUNERAL INCREDIBLY FULFILLS ISAIAH 60
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - September 30, 2016 - “And nations shall walk at thy light, and kings at the brightness of thy rising.” Isaiah 60:3 (The Israel Bible™)
In a rare gathering, a multitude of world leaders will be arriving in Jerusalem on Friday for the funeral of Israeli statesman, Shimon Peres. The number and prominence of world leaders in attendance is staggering, but even more startling is how this conforms precisely to Biblical prophecies. For one rabbi, it is clear that such a gathering had to occur on this particular Sabbath eve, moments before Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, while Gog and Magog is in full-swing. In chapter 60 of Isaiah, the prophet directly addresses Jerusalem, predicting that the nations will turn to the city to dispel the darkness that rules in the days preceding Messiah. Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of Hashem is risen upon thee. Isaiah 60:1
The prophecy goes on to say that that the kings of the world will come to the city, gathering together en masse, in the end of days. And nations shall walk at thy light, and kings at the brightness of thy rising. Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: they all are gathered together, and come to thee; thy sons come from far, and thy daughters are borne on the side. Isaiah 60:3-4
The gathering of this many world leaders in one place at one time – and that place being Jerusalem – is a truly unprecedented event and a testament to the respect and love felt for Shimon Peres, the last of Israel’s “founding fathers.” The list of dignitaries arriving for the funeral is staggering, including prime ministers, presidents, and princes. US president Barack Obama will attend, along with former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State John Kerry. To the surprise of many, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will also be in attendance.
Also at the funeral will be French President Francois Hollande, Britain’s Prince Charles, British Prime Minister Theresa May, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, former British prime minister David Cameron, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, German President Joachim Gauck, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, among many others.

US STATE DEPT. OBAMA SPOKE AT MOUNT HERZL, BUT NOT IN ISRAEL
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - October 1, 2016 - US President Barack came to Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, giving a moving eulogy for Shimon Peres on Friday, but according to the State Department, the speech was not in Israel. After President Obama spoke, the White House Press Secretary released a transcript of his speech, but several hours later released an updated version with an amended header. The header, noting the location of the speech, was noted as “Mount Herzl, Jerusalem,” with the word “Israel” crossed out.

OFFICIAL US POLICY DOES NOT RECOGNIZE JERUSALEM AS PART OF ISRAEL
Israeli Knesset passed the Jerusalem Law in 1980, declaring the city to be Israel’s capital. The US Embassy is in Tel Aviv, though in 1995, Congress passed a law calling to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Since then, US presidents have all used their waiver authority to prevent this from actually happening. In point of fact, Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital since it declared itself a nation in 1948. In 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that Americans born in Jerusalem can no longer claim Israel as their birthplace on their passports, striking down a law passed in Congress in 2002 permitting Israelis with American citizenship to list Jerusalem in their passport. The legislation also called for the US Embassy to be moved to Jerusalem.

LEGENDARY SHOFAR AWAITS MOMENT ELIJAH WILL APPEAR, BLOW IT, AND HERALD MESSIAH'S ARRIVAL
October 1, 2016 by SkyWatch Editor - Sounding the Horn of the Messiah From Jerusalem
By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - September 26, 2016 - Yochanan ben Zakai Synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem. (Wikimedia Commons) The synagogue is known for many things, but its most remarkable element could easily go overlooked. On the southern wall, on a glass shelf far too high to be readily accessible, sit a jug of oil and shofar. Tradition has it that when the Messiah arrives, Elijah himself will appear to blow the shofar and anoint him with the oil.
The shofar, or ram’s horn, is usually identified with Rosh Hashana, the upcoming Jewish New Year, when 100 blasts are traditionally blown from the shofar. Usually shofars belong to individuals who practice year-round, not to the synagogues themselves, making the Ben Zakai shofar unusual. They are among the most significant ritual items in Judaism.
The shofar was used regularly in the Temple service, and Jewish tradition holds that the sounds of the shofar will announce the arrival of the Messiah, just as they greeted the ancient kings of Israel.
The story of the Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai Synagogue shofar is singular. At the end of the 16th century, there were no synagogues in all of Jerusalem, and Ottoman rulers made it illegal to build new ones. After bribing Turkish officials, Jews were able to construct four synagogues in one building with half-hidden entrances. Legend claims there is a secret tunnel connecting the synagogue to the Temple Mount. This tunnel is also waiting for the Messiah, who will use it to travel the last few hundred yards to the Third Temple.

NETANYAHU, OBAMA TO MEET IN NEW YORK ON WEDNESDAY
Washington, Jerusalem confirm confab; leaders will probably meet at US president’s hotel, in what is likely to be their last face-to-face session.
By Raoul Wootliff and AFP - September 18, 2016 - The Times of Israel.- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama will meet in New York on Wednesday during the United Nations General Assembly, the Prime Minister’s Office and the White House confirmed Sunday. Obama and Israel’s prime minister will have a bilateral meeting Wednesday, with discussion topics likely to include the need for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict “in the face of deeply troubling trends on the ground,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement. Earnest said the meeting would afford Obama and Netanyahu an opportunity to discuss “the strong ties between the United States and Israel.” Citing US diplomatic sources, Channel 2 said earlier Sunday that the two leaders would meet, likely at Obama’s hotel. Netanyahu will arrive in New York for the General Assembly on Wednesday, September 20. High-level meetings of this type are usually announced more than a week in advance. Netanyahu’s trip will likely be the last chance for a face-to-face meeting between the prime minister and Obama before the US president leaves office in mid-January. NETANYAHU INSISTS DIFFERENCES WITH OBAMA 'NOT BASED ON PERSONAL ANIMOSITY
ONLY SURROUND ISSUES OF IRAN, SETTLEMENTS
September 25, 2016 - By Ruthie Blum - Describing his meeting with US President Barack Obama in New York last week, on the sidelines of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly as “very good, very friendly, very real and very honest,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Hebrew news site Walla on Saturday night that the differences between the two leaders over the past eight years — to the extent that they existed at all — “were not based on personal animosity.” Contrary to popular belief, Netanyahu said, “I don’t think [any hostility] exists [between us]. There is greater mutual admiration than people think. The controversy surrounded issues, mainly Iran and settlements, perceived to be the obstacle to peace with the Palestinians.” The best evidence that “all the predictions on the part of self-appointed experts” about soured relations between the White House and Jerusalem have been wrong, Netanyahu said, lies in the $38 billion military-aid package signed earlier this month between the US and Israel. This, he added, shows that the bond is as strong and bipartisan as ever. https://www.algemeiner.com/2016/09/25/netanyahu-insists-differences-with-obama-not-based-on-personal-

OBAMA: ISRAEL CANNOT 'PERMANENTLY OCCUPY, SETTLE PALESTINIAN LAND'
In final, wide-ranging UN address, US president also says Palestinians must reject incitement, recognize ‘legitimacy of Israel’
By Times of Israel staff and Agencies - September 20, 2016 - US President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that while the Palestinians should reject terror and incitement, Israel must recognize that it cannot “permanently occupy and settle Palestinian land.” “Surely Israelis and Palestinians will be better off if Palestinians reject incitement and recognize the legitimacy of Israel. But Israel must recognize that it cannot permanently occupy and settle Palestinian land. We all have to do better,” the US president said at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In his wide-ranging address, Obama sought to use his last appearance before the global body to define how his leadership had put the world on a better trajectory over the last eight years. At the heart of that approach, Obama said, is the notion that conflicts are best solved when nations cooperate.
The president cited his administration’s outreach to former adversaries Cuba and Myanmar as key examples of progress. He also cited the resolution last year “of the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomacy” as a key achievement over the past eight years. In his address, Obama spoke of a “less violent” and “more prosperous” world but one rife with “uncertainty, unease and strife,” as nations struggle with a devastating refugee crisis, terrorism and a breakdown of order in the Middle East. “Despite enormous progress, governing has become more difficult, and tensions are more quick to surface,” he said, adding that the world now faces a choice, to “press forward with a better model for cooperation and integration, or retreat into a world that is sharply divided.” “This is the paradox that defines the world today,” Obama said. “We must go forward, and not backward.” http://www.timesofisrael.com/obama-israel-cannot-permanently-occupy-settle-palestinian-land/

REPORT: OBAMA ADMINISTRATION 'MANUFACTURING CRISIS' WITH ISRAEL
By Barney Breen-Portnoy - Algemeiner.com - October 12, 2016 - With its eyes on the potential launch of an Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative after next month's presidential election, the Obama administration is "manufacturing a crisis" over settlement construction, to exert diplomatic pressure on the Jewish state, The Weekly Standard reported on Sunday, citing sources in Congress and the American Jewish community. Last week, the administration raised many eyebrows with its unusually strident criticism of Israel's settlement policies following the approval of dozens of new homes in the West Bank. One congressional source told The Weekly Standard that the administration had been "waiting for an opening" to hit hard against Israel, and an official with an American-Jewish organization was quoted as saying the administration "wants to be able to say the Israelis forced them to act."
The vociferous anti-settlement rhetoric used by White House and State Department spokespersons was shortly followed by the publication of a New York Times editorial board op-ed calling on the administration to back a UN Security Council resolution that would outline the parameters of a two-state solution. In response to that op-ed, Mark Dubowitz -- executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) think thank -- tweeted on Friday, "Obama is laying the groundwork for UN & EU sanctions on Israel. I've seen this playbook before."
Later the same day, Dubowitz took aim at the administration again, tweeting, "Unlike with Iran, all options are on Obama's table to pound Israel." As reported by The Algemeiner extensively, many observers are expecting a US-led peace drive during the lame-duck period between the presidential election on Nov. 8 and the inauguration of Obama's successor on Jan. 20. Last week, Malcolm Hoenlein -- executive vice president of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations -- told The Algemeiner he had "some concerns about what Obama and others may do" regarding the Israeli-Palestinian peace process during the remainder of the president's time in the White House.
"This is based on things I heard from him a year ago about his priorities and the understandable importance of his legacy to him," Hoenlein said. "And I listen to his speeches and I have seen some of the harsh statements that are being issued, even this week, about Israeli settlement policies. http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=719

A WELL-KNOWN JORDANIAN CHRISTIAN WRITER WAS MURDERED SUNDAY ON STEPS OF JORDAN SUPREME COURT AFTER HE WAS SET TO STAND TRIAL FOR SHARING A CARTOON ONLINE CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE TO ISLAM, ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNMENT-RUN PETRA NEWS
JNS.org - Nahed Hattar, a 56-year-old anti-Islamist activist, was shot three times in the head by a Muslim preacher outside the Palace of Justice. The gunman was arrested at the scene by security officers.
ISRAELI PROFESSOR. PALESTINIAN LEADERS WANT ONE STATE, NOT TWO
JNS.org - September 27, 2016 Palestinian Authority officials have been using a deceptive version of the "two states for two peoples" motto when they... The Jordanian government condemned Hattar’s murder. “The law will be strictly enforced on the culprit who did this criminal act and will hit with an iron fist anyone who tries to harm the state of law,” said official spokesman Mohammad Momani. In August, Hattar was criminally charged for sharing a cartoon on his Facebook page that depicted a bearded man smoking in bed surrounded by women and asking God to serve him wine. The writer later removed the post and wrote that the cartoon “mocks terrorists and their concept of God and heaven. It does not infringe God’s divinity in any way.”

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A SOVEREIGN ARAB STATE IN PALESTINE
By The Jerusalem Connection - October 11, 2016 - By Eli Hertz - The artificiality of a Palestinian identity is reflected in the attitudes and actions of neighboring Arab nations who never established a Palestinian state themselves. Arabs in neighboring states, who control 99.9 percent of the Middle East land, have never recognized a Palestinian entity. The Arabs never established a Palestinian state when the UN in 1947 recommended to partition Palestine, and to establish “an Arab and a Jewish state” (not a Palestinian state, it should be noted).
Nor did the Arabs recognize or establish a Palestinian state during the two decades prior to the Six-Day Warwhen the West Bank was under Jordanian control and the Gaza Strip was under Egyptian control. Nor did the Palestinian Arabs clamor for autonomy or independence during those years under Jordanian and Egyptian rule. And as for Jerusalem: Only twice in the city’s history has it served as a national capital. First as the capital of the two Jewish Commonwealths during the First and Second Temple periods, as described in the Bible, reinforced by archaeological evidence and numerous ancient documents. And again in modern times as the capital of the State of Israel.

UNESCO VOTES: NO CONNECTION BETWEEN TEMPLE MOUNT AND JUDAISM
By The Jerusalem Connection - October 13, 2016
By TOVAH LAZAROFF, HERB KEINON, MICHAEL WILNER, ADAM RASGON, JPOST—
In a 24-6 vote the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on Thursday gave preliminary approval to a resolution that denies Jewish ties to its most holy religious sites: the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the vote stating: “The theater of the absurd continues at the UN.” “Today UNESCO adopted its second decision this year denying the Jewish people’s connection to the Temple Mount, our holiest site for more than 3,000 years,” he said. “What’s next? A UNESCO decision denying the connection between peanut butter and jelly? Batman and Robin? Rock ‘n’ roll?”
Twenty-six nations abstained from the vote and two were absent. The six countries that voted in support of Israel were the United States, Great Britain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany and Estonia.
A senior US administration official chastised the vote taken by UNESCO’s 58-member Executive Board and told The Jerusalem Post that the US “will not hesitate to use our vote at the current board meeting to oppose these resolutions.”
The Palestinian Authority, however, welcomed the results. The official spokesman of the Palestinian Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeinah said on Thursday evening that the continued international decisions against the occupation and its policy including that of UNESCO regarding Jerusalem and the al-Aksa Mosque form a clear message from the international community that it does not agree with the policies that protect the occupation and contribute to the creation of chaos and instability.

‘WE WON'T ALLOW IRAN TO CONTROL SYRIA'
By The Jerusalem Connection - October 13, 2016
By Shlomo Cesna, Israel Hayom - Yom Kippur, 1973. Yoav Gallant, a 10th grader from Ramat Gan, is sitting in the synagogue. “I remember the moment,” he tells Israel Hayom. “The adults got up and left. Later, we heard that the war had started.” The high schooler, who would eventually command the elite Shayetet 13 naval commando unit and go on to serve as a major general in the General Staff, and who is currently housing and construction minister and sits on the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet, belongs to the generation of leaders that did not fight in that war, but lived through it and was affected by it.
“I was a kid during the [1967] Six-Day War. I remember the look my parents exchanged during that war - it was a look of fear. In the Yom Kippur War, I saw a different look on their faces, one of astonishment.
“The 12th graders handled the emergency economy headquarters that operated between Jabotinsky and Bialik streets, across from the Rama movie theater. The 10th and 11th graders, including me, were their assistants. We got up in the morning, went to work at the Tana Noga [dairy], distributed eggs in the afternoon, and in the evening we’d go to Tel Hashomer to help load ammunition onto trucks. We felt like we were part of the war effort and very important. Bit by bit, after a week or two, we started to hear rumors of casualties. Names we knew, people who’d been [a few years] ahead of us in the youth movements, in the Scouts. That’s how I learned that my good friend Shimon’s brother had been killed. That’s what I remember from the Yom Kippur War.
“In my generation of new army recruits, all our commanders were veterans of that same war. My company commander in basic training fought in the Battle of the Chinese Farm. All the Shayetet commanders when I was a soldier — Shaike Brosh, Yedidiya Yaari, Ami Ayalon — were brave fighters, so the war was with us during our own service. Looking back, the lesson was very important: [In 1967] Israel defeated three armies in six days. Six years later, two of those same armies brought Israel to a totally different situation in a short time. Yes, we defeated them, but the situation that had been created gave us all strategic understanding that even if Israel beats its enemies in battle, if it had no intention of annihilating the enemy and it remains, we need to normalize relations, and that has to be done from a position of strength.”
The Axis of Evil is still here. http://thejerusalemconnection.us/blog/2016/10/13/wont-allow-iran-control-syria/

CONGRESS BLASTS OBAMA FOR PREPARING ANTI-ISRAEL OFFENSIVE
By The Jerusalem Connection - October 13, 2016 - By Jenna Lifhits, Weekly Standard - The Obama administration is manufacturing a crisis with Israel in anticipation of a post-election diplomatic push targeting the Jewish state, and this past week launched a series of broadsides criticizing the Israelis through the media and in press briefings, according to congressional sources and Jewish-American officials who spoke to THE WEEKLY STANDARD.
The White House and State Department lashed out after the Israelis advanced plans to build in areas the administration considers to be off-limits to new Israeli construction, using language that reporters noted is usually reserved for terror attacks. Asked by journalists why the administration stated that it “strongly condemn[ed]” Israel’s plans to advance construction, a phrase ordinarily used “to denounce acts of terrorism,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest replied that the construction “provoke[s] strong feelings in the administration.” In that briefing, Earnest also suggested that Israel betrayed commitments to Washington, while a State Department official separately said Israel would be “cementing… perpetual occupation” if it built the houses.
The latest controversy revolves around construction that the Israelis say is within the already existing Israeli neighborhood Shilo, but that the administration says constitutes a new settlement. Congressional officials who spoke to TWS said that the administration’s condemnation is a pretext for eroding relations with Israel and potentially for setting up a broader diplomatic offensive. http://thejerusalemconnection.us/blog/2016/10/13/congress-blasts-obama-preparing-anti-israel-offensive/

LETHARGIC CHRISTIAN SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL
By The Jerusalem Connection - October 13, 2016
By Earl Cox, Israel Always - Much criticism has been levied against Christians for failing to strongly speak out against terrorism and anti-Semitism and for not doing much to combat the Arab-Muslim violence and atrocities taking place in the Middle East and especially in Israel.
Why aren’t Christians having a greater impact against Hamas and Hezbollah terror attacks across Israel’s borders? And why aren’t Christians more strongly protesting the Muslim beheadings, torture and killings of Christians in the Middle East, Europe and North Africa? While Christians do not have a military force to combat Muslim extremists or engage in battles to help defend Israel, Christians should at least project a stronger voice of protest to the world about all the Arab-Muslim atrocities taking place against our brothers and sisters and all other non-Muslims.
Today, Evangelical Christians are Israel’s best friends, strongest supporters, and staunchest allies. Evangelical Christians operate numerous people-helping charities in Israel, gaining the respect and deep appreciation of the Israeli government and the people. So why aren’t our voices being heard loud and clear? One reason is, unlike the Catholic Church, Evangelical Christians do not have a leadership hierarchy and thus no designated national or international spokesperson to serve as the Christian voice in the media.
On the political side, there are spokespeople who are occasionally vocal in defense of Israel but they seem unable to make a forceful case to the world. Why? Because most politicians are either ignorant of the facts concerning Israel and the Middle East or apathetic toward Israel and her right to exist as a Jewish state and therefore they remain largely silent. Sadly, many Christian leaders are in the same boat – ignorant, apathetic or both. There are very few Christian voices being heard loudly and clearly in support of, and defense of, Israel. Even those who were once outspoken have fallen strangely silent.

NY TIMES PRESSURES OBAMA TO DIVIDE ISRAEL
By The Jerusalem Connection - Oct 13, 2016 - By Michael Snyder, Charisma News—
While most Americans are focused on the endless circus surrounding Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, a drama of Earth-shattering importance is playing out behind the scenes. Most people seem to assume that we don’t have to be concerned about Barack Obama anymore because his second term is scheduled to end in a few months, but the truth is that an absolutely critical decision is in his hands right now. Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have said that they will not support a proposed U.N. Security Council resolution that would formally establish a Palestinian state, that would set the parameters for the new state, and that would grant them East Jerusalem as their capital. So at this moment there is a tremendous amount of international pressure on Barack Obama to support such a resolution, because the U.S. veto power on the U.N. Security Council is the only thing standing in the way of formally dividing the land of Israel. I wrote about this in August, in September, and now I am writing about it again in October. If Obama is going to do this, it needs to happen by Jan. 20, 2017, and so for the next few months we are officially in “the danger zone.” http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/60450-the-new-york-times-calls-for-obama-to-

ISRAELI FUROR AS BOTH THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND WESTERN WALL RECLASSIFIED BY UN AS EXCLUSIVELY MUSLIM
Since capturing disputed east Jerusalem in the 1967 war, Israel insists that the holy sites in the Old City should remain under its sovereignty. The Palestinians, for their part, say that any final status peace agreement with Israel is not possible so long as its government refuses to cede control of sites holy to Muslims

By Geoffrey Grider - October 14, 2016 - The Israeli government reacted angrily on Thursday to a United Nations body’s resolutions that failed to mention any link between Judaism and its holy sites in Jerusalem. “The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” Joel 3:16 (KJV)
ARTICLE EDITOR’S NOTE: The word ‘Jerusalem’ occurs 811 times in 764 verses in the KJV. The Bible says that King David, Israel’s greatest king, reigned over Israel from it’s capital city of Jerusalem. Not one time, ever in the entire Bible, do we see any Muslims having anything to do with Jerusalem. From start to finish, Jerusalem is 100% Jewish and belonging to Israel. That the United Nations in 2016 would declare it to be “100% Muslim” is clear evidence of the demonic nature of the UN and UNESCO.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) renewed the resolutions that criticized Israel for what it says are its policies that restrict Muslim access to a site considered holy by both Jews and Muslims in Jerusalem’s Old City. The site is revered by Jews and Muslims alike, known to Jews as Temple Mount and to Muslims as the al-Aqsa compound or Haram al-Sharif (which is the Arabic translation for ‘Noble Sanctuary’). Israel slams new UNESCO resolutions on ‘Occupied Jerusalem’ But a draft of the latest version of the resolution, posted on UNESCO’s website and dated Oct 12, showed the site repeatedly described only by its Muslim names – something Israel says amounts to a denial of its Jewish history.
‘The theater of the absurd at UNESCO continues and today the organization adopted another delusional decision which says that the people of Israel have no connection to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall,’ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in Jerusalem. The Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site, is a remnant of the Second Jewish Temple that was built by Herod the Great and destroyed by the Roman Empire nearly 2,000 years ago. ‘To declare that Israel has no connection to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall is like saying that China has no connection to the Great Wall of China or that Egypt has no connection to the Pyramids,’ Netanyahu said.
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:2 (KJV)
Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said: ‘This is an important message to Israel that it must end its occupation and recognize the Palestinian state and Jerusalem as its capital with its sacred Muslim and Christian sites.’ The resolutions refer to ‘Occupied Palestine’ and aim to ‘safeguard the Palestinian cultural heritage and the distinctive character of East Jerusalem’, according to a text seen by AFP. ‘With this absurd decision, UNESCO has lost what legitimacy it once had,’ Netanyahu said in a statement. The text of the resolutions refer to Israel as an ‘occupying power’. The US also voiced displeasure saying it ‘strongly opposed these resolutions.’
‘We are deeply concerned about these kinds of recurring politicized resolutions that do nothing to advance constructive results on the ground and we don’t believe they should be adopted,’ State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner said.

30 ISRAELI, FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS KILLED IN RUSSIA'S CALIBER MISSILE ATTACK IN ALEPPO
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian warships stationed in Syria's coastal waters targeted and destroyed a foreign military operations room, killing over two dozen Israeli and western intelligence officers. "The Russian warships fired three Caliber missiles at the foreign officers' coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region in the Western part of Aleppo near Sam'an mountain, killing 30 Israeli and western officers," the Arabic-language service of Russia's Sputnik news agency quoted battlefield source in Aleppo as saying on Wednesday. The operations room was located in the Western part of Aleppo province in the middle of sky-high Sam'an mountain and old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains.
Several US, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari and British officers were also killed along with the Israeli officers. The foreign officers who were killed in the Aleppo operations room were directing the terrorists' attacks in Aleppo and Idlib.
Earlier in September, the Syrian army units launched a preemptive strike on the terrorists of the so-called Aleppo Operations Room in their gathering centers near Castello road in the Northern areas of Aleppo and Mallah farms, foiling their plots to attack the region's supply route, a source said.
The source said that the army's artillery units attacked the terrorists' gathering centers near Castello and Mallah farms in Zahra Abdo Rabbah, Kafar Hamra and Hurayatyn which killed and wounded dozens of militants. Also, the Syrian air force attacked the terrorists' supply route in Northern Aleppo towards Hayyan and Adnan as well as the supply roads in Western Aleppo towards the North and smashed the terrorists' convoys in al-Aratab, Urom Kobra and Ma'ara al-Artiq which thwarted the terrorists' plots and forced many of them flee towards the Turkish borders. Informed media sources disclosed earlier that the Syrian army has continued its advances in the Southern part of Aleppo, and regained control over several strategic areas in the town of Khan Touman. "A number of key warehouses of Khan Touman are now under the Syrian army's control," the Arabic-language media quoted an unnamed informed source as saying. The source noted that the Syrian air force and army's artillery units also targeted the gathering centers and fortifications of the terrorists in Khan Touman.

JERUSALEM BISHOP: TWO-STATE SOLUTION KEY TO HOLY LAND PEACE
By Tony Magliano - September 26, 2016 - Making a Difference - Recently, I emailed questions to Auxiliary Bishop William Shomali of Jerusalem, asking him to share his firsthand insights regarding the many injustices and the violent environment in the land of the Prince of Peace. He graciously sent back a recorded audio response, upon which this column is based.
Shomali said one of the most pressing problems facing Palestinians is Israeli-imposed restrictions on movement. For example, he said, Palestinians living in Bethlehem or Ramallah need to obtain a permit to go just 6 miles to Jerusalem. And permits are only given during principle feasts. He said the ongoing illegal building of Israeli settlements on Palestinian land in the occupied territories is an extremely serious roadblock to a peaceful solution. To correct these and other injustices, Israel needs to participate in good-faith negotiations toward the two-state solution: the establishment of an independent viable Palestinian nation coexisting peacefully with a fully recognized state of Israel. He emphasized that the Holy See continues to firmly support the two-state solution. Explore Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation on the family with our free study guide. "Negotiations could be successful if there is goodwill. Some settlements can be given to Palestinians and Israelis can keep some of the settlements close to Israel. Other land exchange agreements can be reached as well," said Shomali.

PALESTINIANS: “THE MAFIA OF DESTRUCTION"
By Khaled Abu Toameh, JPost - September 22, 2016 - Hamas and Palestinian Authority (PA) officials have turned medical care into a business that earns them hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. This corruption has enabled top officials in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to embezzle millions of shekels from the PA budget.
In 2013, the PA spent more than half a billion shekels covering medical bills of Palestinians who were referred to hospitals outside the Palestinian territories. However, no one seems to know exactly how the money was spent and whether all those who received the referrals were indeed in need of medical treatment. In one case, it appeared that 113 Palestinian patients had been admitted to Israeli hospitals at the cost of 3 million shekels, while there is no documentation of any of these cases. Even the identities of the patients remain unknown. Hajer Harb, a courageous Palestinian journalist from the Gaza Strip, says she is now facing charges of “slander” for exposing the corruption. She has been repeatedly interrogated by Hamas. The PA regime, for its part, is not too happy with exposure about the scandal. Gaza’s hospitals would be rather better equipped if Hamas used its money to build medical centers instead of tunnels for smuggling weapons from Egypt to attack Israel.
Question: How do Palestinian patients obtain permits to receive medical treatment in Israeli and other hospitals around the world? Answer: By paying bribes to senior Palestinian officials in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Those who cannot afford to pay the bribes are left to die in under-equipped and understaffed hospitals, especially in the Gaza Strip.

ISIS PREPARES FOR FINAL BATTLE: US TROOPS 3 MILES FROM SITE OF ANCIENT APOCALYPSE PROPHECY
US SPECIAL forces are encircling a jihadi stronghold in Syria claimed by ISIS to be in old Islamic prophecy as the site of the final battle - triggering the apocalypse.
By Tom Batchelor - September 29, 2016 - According to the extremists' twisted ideology, Dabiq - a tiny town in northern Syria - will see a "major apocalyptic showdown with the armies of the infidel" that will result in the collapse of civilisation.
And Turkish troops backed by American commandos are understood to be just three miles from the town.
ISIS claim the battle will erupt in a field outside the small town, which in 2004 recorded a population of just 3,000 people.
ISIS even named its terrorist propaganda and recruitment magazine after the settlement, which lies around six miles from the Turkish border. Jihadists believe the Prophet Mohammed remarked that "the last hour will not come" until an army vanquishes the Romans at "Dabiq or Al-A'maq". One of the founders of ISIS, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, is quoted in the vile group's propaganda magazine as saying: "The spark has been lit here in Iraq, and its heat will continue to intensify - by Allah's permission - until it burns the crusader armies in Dabiq."
