QUARTET SEEKS 'CONCRETE STEPS' TO REVIVE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN PEACE TALKS
By REUTERS - October 1, 2015 -
The "Quartet" of Middle East peace mediators said on Wednesday it had decided to give new impetus to trying to get Israel and the Palestinians to resume peace talks with the help of key Arab states.
Peace talks, envisaging a Palestinian state in territory Israel captured in a 1967 war, collapsed in April last year after nine months of largely fruitless discussions sponsored by the United States.
Tensions have risen sharply in recent weeks as Arab states and Palestinians have accused Israeli forces of violations at Jerusalem's al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites.
"We have decided to work together ... on concrete steps on the ground in the absence of the peace process in the Middle East and have decided to reutilize the Quartet's activities," European foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told reporters after a Quartet meeting at the United Nations.
"This crisis that has been there for decades, out of all the crises in front of us, is the one that is still possible to solve," she said. http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Quartet-seeks-concrete-steps-to-revive-Israeli-Palestinian-

PM SLAMS ABBA'S 'DEAFENING SILENCE' AFTER TERROR ATTACK
Netanyahu says not a word heard from PA, while whole Israeli leadership condemned Duma firebombing, which killed 3 Dawabsha family members
By Raphael Ahren and Times of Israel staff October 2, 2015 - NEW YORK — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday lambasted Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for failing to condemn the terror attack that earlier that day had killed an Israeli couple in front of four of their children, aged 4 months to 9 years.
“I didn’t hear any condemnation from the Palestinian Authority” on the murders of Naama and Eitam Henkin, he said. “Note that there was this horrible and pretty unique event of the murder of an Arab family in Kfar Duma,” he continued, referring to a terror attack from July 31, during which three members of the Dawabsha family were killed.
The Dawabsha family home was firebombed by Jewish terrorists, killing Ali Saad Dawabsha, 18 months old. His parents died of their severe wounds separately, weeks apart. The only surviving member of the family is Ahmed, 5, who remains hospitalized in Israel. The attack shook Israeli society, drawing condemnation from politicians from across the political spectrum who called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
“I, and the entire Israeli leadership, immediately condemned it forcefully,” Netanyahu told Israeli reporters during a briefing in his Manhattan hotel Thursday. “I went to the hospital. We gave any assistance possible. Now compare that to defeating silence, pardon the expression. It’s a deafening silence.”

ISRAELI PARENTS GUNNED DOWN IN TERROR ATTACK WERE 'DREAM COUPLE'
Neighbors, friends describe ‘inseparable’ pair who did everything together; funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Jerusalem
By Times of Israel staff October 2, 2015 - Neighbors and friends of the Israeli couple shot dead in a West Bank terror attack on Thursday, leaving behind six orphaned children, expressed their shock and disbelief at the loss.
“They were a dream couple, who in life and in death were inseparable. Everyone knew that they went everywhere together. they invested a lot in their relationship, in their family, their children, ” a neighbor who was identified by her first name, Shlomit, told Ynet of Naama and Eitam Henkin, both in their early 30s, who were gunned down Thursday while driving in their car between the settlements of Itamar and Elon Moreh, near the Palestinian village of Beit Furik.
Four of their children who were in the backseat of the vehicle, aged 4 months, 4, 7 and 9, were unharmed.
“They were something special, good people, very humble,” she went on, speaking quickly and appearing visibly upset.
Yossi Dermer, the head of the security team of the West Bank settlement of Neria, where the family lived, said the community and others like it are “unfortunately well versed” in such tragedies and were finding their strength in each other. “Right now, there are four small children that need care, we need to see how we proceed in the morning,” said Dermer. http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-parents-gunned-down-in-terror-attack-were-dream-couple/

ISRAELI POLICE LIMIT ACCESS TO OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM AFTER DEADLY ATTACK
By Jethro Mullen and Michael Schwartz, CNN - October 4, 2015 - Jerusalem (CNN)—Israeli police say they are restricting access to the Old City of Jerusalem after a Palestinian man killed two Israelis on a street in the historic
neighborhood.
Only Israeli citizens, Old City residents, tourists, businesspeople working in the area and students studying there will be allowed to enter, police said in a statement Sunday. They said they're also preventing Muslim men under the age of 50 from attending prayers at the holy site in the Old City that Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims call Haram al-Sharif, or the Noble Sanctuary.
Palestinian officials reacted angrily to the move. "What's happening today is a renewal of Israeli arrogance and recklessness," Hatem Abdul Qader, a Jerusalem official for the governing Palestinian party Fatah, told
Palestine TV. "Jerusalem is now a military base, sons of Jerusalem are now banned from entering the Old City."

OBAMA, NETANYAHU SET TO MEET ON NOVEMBER 9
After fierce spats over Iran deal, both leaders begin to talk security cooperation, curbing Tehran’s regional influence
By Times of Israel staff September 13, 2015 - Israeli officials say US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet on November 9.
The meeting may be their first after a bruising battle in Washington over the White House-championed Iran nuclear deal. Democrats successfully fought back a Republican legislative attempt to pull the US out of the deal between Iran and six world powers, which is intended to curtail Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for relief from international sanctions.

LIVNI: ISRAEL TOOK A HUGE STEP BACKWARDS THIS YEAR
In remarkably grim Rosh Hashanah interview, former foreign and justice minister calls for ‘deep change’ in policy and society, offers few silver linings
By Raphael Ahren September 13, 2015 - Entered Tzipi Livni’s Knesset office Tuesday in the hope for some encouraging words ahead of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, which is traditionally a time for deep introspection and lofty aspirations for the future. I didn’t get any. Rather, the ex-minister and current opposition lawmaker, who a few years ago almost became prime minister, painted a devastating picture of Israel. “We took a huge step backwards,” she said resolutely when I asked her to look back at the year 5775. Livni described a country saturated with hate and fear, whose political leadership spews out racism, harms its own strategic interests and gets Jewish communities worldwide into trouble.

AS SYRIA'S ASSAD SUFFERS CIVIL WAR SETBACKS, WHAT'S THE BEST OUTCOME FOR ISRAEL?
By JNS June 2, 2015 - With the Syrian civil war well into its fifth year, President Bashar al-Assad’s government has outlasted many observers’ predictions of his demise. But recently, major setbacks for that government have led many to question whether or not these are indeed the Assad regime’s final days and to ponder what a post-Assad Syria might mean for neighbors such as Israel. After defeating Syrian government forces in Palmyra, the Islamic State terror group now controls roughly half of Syria’s territory, although that mostly constitutes Syria’s vast deserts in the east. At the same time, Islamic State controls many of Syria’s major oil and gas reserves and is threatening to seize more. Other rebel forces in northern Syria have captured a key military base in Syria’s Idlib province, pushing the Syrian regime further into their strongholds in Damascus and along the Syrian coast. But if that pattern continues, “it will be very very difficult for [Assad] to secure his positions in these areas,” said Prof. Eyal Zisser, a Syria expert at Tel Aviv University (TAU).
“So it is still too close to call, but clearly the rebels are doing well,” Sisser told JNS.org. As a result of the recent rebel and Islamist gains, the Syrian regime now only controls roughly 25-30 percent of the country, although that includes major cities such as the capital of Damascus as well as Tartus and Latakia along the country’s western coast.

"ANCIENT PROPHECY"
By Devash 16 Sivan 5775 posted: 03 June 2015 - Rashbi in an Ancient Prophecy: When Damascus Falls - Salvation Will Sprout to Israel. While news arrives from Syria about the waning of Assad's regime, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai was expecting it a long time ago - accompanied by a surprising promise. Will the fall of Assad's regime be significant in some way or another for the State of Israel? Commentators differ in their opinions, but it seems that everything is dwarfed by a surprising description of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, written thousands of years ago.
The book "Otzar Midrashim" is a description of the redemption, as Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai heard from an angel while hiding in a cave. In the Midrash, it shows a section that appears to refer to our days: "And it's a sign for you, when you see that an Eastern Nero has fallen, that in Damascus has fallen the Bnei Mizrach kingdom, then will sprout the salvation of Israel, and Mashiach ben David comes and will ascend to Jerusalem." There was someone who checked and found that "Eastern Nero" in gematria equals "Bashar Assad". The actual timing is so appropriate, when the news from Syria is reporting on the last death throes of the Assad regime.

BOMBSHELL: ISIS JUST HOURS FROM DESTRUCTION
'It won't take very long at all to drive them out' October 5, 2015 - Chelsea Schilling - WND
A top terror expert says ISIS is now so weak that it could be decimated within hours. According to a London Express report Monday evening, Russian airstrikes, unruly leadership and numerous defections have destabilized the terror organization to the point that it wouldn’t be capable of fighting off even a small attack.
Terror analyst Dr. Afzal Ashraf told the paper that ISIS has drastically exaggerated its military power, prompting an international counterattack. Ashraf urged Western leaders to act now to wipe out the jihadi group.
The U.S. has led a coalition of airstrikes against ISIS. The New York Times reported that the coalition is preparing to open a major front in Raqqa, a city in northeastern Syria that is widely considered to be ISIS’ capital. President Obama has also ordered the Pentagon to provide weapons to Syrian rebel groups.
Russian President Vladimir Put is preparing to send 150,000 troops into Syria to wipe out ISIS, according to the paper. Ashraf, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute think tank, told the Express: “This mythical state will disappear in a matter of hours once the international community decides to act. “It won’t take very long at all to drive them, if not out of all of Iraq or Syria, then certainly the majority of their territories.
