Last Wednesday, Netanyahu’s office issued a statement announcing that the prime minister would be meeting with the pope at the Vatican this Wednesday and separately with Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome to discuss nuclear talks with Iran and the ongoing peace talks with the Palestinians.
However, the AFP source said that there were no plans for the meeting, pointing out that meetings with the pope typically had to be scheduled further in advance.
Netanyahu’s office declined a request for a comment.
The meeting would have been Netanyahu’s first with the current pope, who met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas last Thursday at the Vatican and with President Shimon Peres in April. Netanyahu met with the previous pope, Benedict XVI, in 2009, as well as with Pope John Paul II in 1997.
Abbas and Peres both invited the pontiff to Israel and the Palestinian territories, and Francis has said he would like to visit the Middle East.
Israel’s Channel 2 reported last Sunday that the pope had scheduled a trip for March, but the Vatican has yet to confirm that that’s the case. http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-wont-meet-pope-francis-this-week/

ISRAEL IS THE GREATEST SIGN OF HOPE
Editor Thursday 31 October 2013 - By C4I International.. This interview was held with Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer, president of Christians for Israel International, for the Dutch EO radio and tv magazine, “Visie”, 2013 – nr. 40.
He was an ardent atheist, but an intense experience of God turned his life upside down. Today Rev Willem J. J. Glashouwer (68) flies literally all over the world on behalf of Christians for Israel to point out the “mystery of Israel” to churches and fellow pastors. Like stringing beads on a thread Rev Willem Glashouwer – since 1999 full time President of Christians for Israel International – sums up the places where he recently delivered teachings on Israel. From Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth to Birmingham, London, Gillingham and Ashford. “My wife and I returned yesterday from a tour in England and Scotland,” he tells in his living room in Amersfoort. “Tomorrow morning I’m going to fly to Far East Russia, beyond Siberia, for a new series of teachings.”
This frequent flying sounds pretty back-breaking.
“It is back-breaking. But I get so much blessings and energy in return when I see that people gain new insights into God’s plan with Israel. The Lord gives me the strength to do this; He called me to do this work and I do it joyfully. There are few places I haven’t been yet. Fortunately my wife supports me for 120 percent!”
You are 68 years old, and in November you will be 69. Still not having a mind for slowing down a bit? Smiling: “When I became 65 I said: “Dear Lord, it has been enough.” But in my entire life I have never been busier. He had other plans.”
Attacked - As a minister’s son Rev Willem J. J. Glashouwer (“the black sheep of the family”) fervently undermined the faith of Christians. “Although I grew up in the vicarage, since my infancy faith just slipped off of me like raindrops on a raincoat. It just didn’t mean anything to me. I also challenged people with their faith, fellow students at the Gymnasium for example. Faith? A form of wishful thinking; if you can’t cope with your own problems why not create a god and hang upon him your problems as hats on a hallstand? God as a projection of the human mind. The theory of evolution for me was a perfect explanation for everything. And for the rest: hurray for the good times.”

WHY ISRAEL? BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING CONCERNING GOD'S PURPOSES FOR ISRAEL AND THE CHURCH HOME - OP-ED FOR THE POPE ISRAEL DOES NOT REALLY EXIST
Editor 23 October 2013 - By Giulio Meotti.. The writer, Arutz Sheva columnist, is an expert on the Vatican. His new book, The Vatican Against Israel, will be published at the end of this month. For Pope Francis, who, it is said, plans to visit Jerusalem next year, the State of Israel doesn’t even exist. This is how the Pope greeted the faithful at the end of the General Audience in Rome: “I ask you to pray for the peace in the Middle East: in Syria, in Iraq, in Egypt, in Lebanon and in the Holy Land, where the Prince of Peace is born”. Where is Israel in the Pope’s statement? A few days earlier, the Pope had visited St. Francis’ grave in Assisi. There, Papa Bergoglio said: “Let us listen to the cry of all those who are weeping, who are suffering and who are dying because of violence, terrorism or war, in the Holy Land, so dear to Saint Francis, in Syria, throughout the Middle East and everywhere in the world”.
No mention again of the Jewish State or of the two Israeli soldiers murdered by Muslim terrorists this month.
“Terra Sancta”, holy land, is the malignant expression used by the Vatican and the Catholic clergy in the Middle East to deny the very existence of the Jewish state and people. If it is their holy land, it cannot be Eretz Yisrael.
A few days ago Asia News, one of the most important Catholic Church foreign news media outlets, ran an article titled “The Costs of the Israeli Occupation and the Judaization of Jerusalem”.
The two countries which took pride in themselves as true Catholic States during the Second World War, were Slovakia and Croatia. There, more than anywhere else, strong condemnation of anti-Jewish measures could have been expected. But in May 1943, while the gas chambers of Auschwitz and Treblinka were turning Europe’s Jewry into ashes, the Vatican’s Secretary of State Cardinal, Luigi Maglione, in a document, listed a number of arguments to support the Pope’s refusal to help and rescue 2,000 Jewish children from Slovakia.

SIGNS OF RIFT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND US OVER IRAN
American officials hint at possible easing of sanctions as Netanyahu urges more pressure
By Josef Federman October 20, 2013, 10:55 pm - P - Just days after the first round of global nuclear talks with Iran, a rift appears to be emerging between Israel and its closest ally, the United States.
Israel’s prime minister on Sunday called on the US to step up the pressure on Iran, even as American officials hinted at the possibility of easing tough economic pressure. Meanwhile, a leading Israeli daily reported the outlines of what could be construed in the West as genuine Iranian compromises in the talks.
The differing approaches could bode poorly for Israel as the talks between six global powers and Iran gain steam in the coming months. Negotiators were upbeat following last week’s talks, and the next round of negotiations is set to begin Nov. 7. 2013.
Convinced Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes the Iranians are trying to trick the West into easing economic sanctions while still pushing forward with their nuclear program. Iran insists its program is for peaceful purposes. “I think that in this situation as long as we do not see actions instead of words, the international pressure must continue to be applied and even increased,” Netanyahu told his Cabinet. “The greater the pressure, the greater the chance that there will be a genuine dismantling of the Iranian military nuclear program.”
Israel considers a nuclear-armed Iran a threat to its very survival, citing Iranian references to Israel’s destruction.
Netanyahu says pressure must be maintained until Iran halts all enrichment of uranium, a key step in producing a nuclear weapon; removes its stockpile of enriched uranium from the country; closes suspicious enrichment facilities and shutters a facility that could produce plutonium, another potential gateway to nuclear arms.

FIFTH EARTHQUAKE IN 5 DAYS HITS ISRAEL
Bible warns of catastrophic earthquakes in Israel in the “last days.”
Editor Friday 25 October 2013 - By Joel Rosenberg.. Every 80 years or so, Israel has a major, catastrophic earthquake. So Israelis know they are “due” for a “big one.” Those who pay attention to Bible prophecy also know that both the Old and New Testament Scriptures describe major earthquakes occurring in Israel in the last days. Earthquake preparations are on the increase by government agencies and among private companies and such preparations will now accelerate, especially in the wake of five minor earthquakes in Israel in the course of the past five days. Among the steps being taken: a new earthquake alert system is being developed by the government and is expected to be ready in 2016.
“Israel’s last major earthquake rattled the region in 1927? reports the Times of Israel, was “a 6.2-magnitude tremor that killed 500 and injured another 700.” Before that, “an earthquake in 1837 left as many as 5,000 people dead.”
“A small earthquake shook the Sea of Galilee area on Tuesday morning (October 22, 2013), the fifth such tremor in less than a week,” noted the Times. “The quake, measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, caused no reported damage or injuries.”
“On Sunday (October 20, 2013), two minor earthquakes, both measuring 3.6 in intensity, were reported in the north, which followed similar quakes on Saturday and Thursday,” the Times noted. “No injuries have been reported, although some buildings in Tiberias were lightly damaged by the tremors. Last Sunday, a 6.4-magnitude quake, centered in the Mediterranean Sea near Crete, was felt in Athens, Egypt and Israel….In response to the string of temblors, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a special cabinet meeting Monday to discuss the state’s earthquake preparedness, and, on Sunday, the Home Front Command and emergency services representatives held a meeting to discuss emergency procedures in the case of a more major earthquake.”

NETANYAHU: ISRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAM MUST BE 'DISMANTLED'
PM says Tehran seeks partial deal that would allow it to pursue a nuke; US treasury secretary: It’s ‘premature’ to talk about easing sanctionsBy Spencer Ho October 20, 2013, 8:40 pm - “I think the pressure has to be maintained on Iran, even increased on Iran, until it actually stops the nuclear program, that is, dismantles it,” Netanyahu told NBC’s Meet the Press. “I think you don’t want to go through half-way measures.
“Suppose Syria said, ‘Well, you know, we’re going to dismantle 20 percent [of our chemical weapons], so give us the easing of sanctions’ — nobody would buy that,” he added. “That’s exactly what Iran is trying to do. They’re trying to give a partial deal that they know could end up dissolving the sanctions regime and would keep them with the nuclear weapons capabilities.”
Netanyahu was responding to a report that in the wake of last week’s negotiations in Geneva, President Barack Obama was considering releasing Iranian assets worth billions if Iran takes steps to curb its nuclear program.
Netanyahu elaborated that he was firmly against any such move because Iran was still committing the actions that brought about the sanctions.
“As far as I remember, those assets were frozen for three reasons,” he said. “One, Iran’s terrorist actions; two, its aggressive actions particularly in the [Persian] Gulf; and three, its continued refusal to stop the production of weapons of mass destruction. You know, if you get all three done and they stop doing it, well then, I suppose you could unfreeze them.” http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-irans-nuclear-program-must-be-dismantled/

US-IRAN THAW PTS ISRAELI ATTACK OPTIONS ON ICE
Oct. 7, 2013 - 03:45AM | By BARBARA OPALL-ROME |
Photo: Talking to Tehran: US President Barack Obama speaks on the phone from the White House with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sept. 27. (White House)
TEL AVIV — Israel is reassessing its dwindling options for combating the Iranian nuclear threat as a war-weary White House and other world powers meet in Geneva later this month to probe diplomatic prospects for a deal with Tehran. Government and defense sources here said US President Barack Obama’s readiness to “test the diplomatic path” has severely undercut Israel’s strategy of compelling complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program through strengthened sanctions and the credible threat of military force.
In his Oct. 1 UN General Assembly address in New York, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s newly elected president, was not a reform-seeking moderate but a “mastermind” of deceit, who aimed to fool the world body “behind a smokescreen of diplomatic engagement and very soothing diplomatic rhetoric.”
Netanyahu was adamant that Israel “would never acquiesce” to a nuclear weapon-capable Iran. Nor would it accept a partial agreement that allows Iran to reconstitute the threat should it decide to break away from a deal.
Against such a threat, he repeatedly warned, “Israel will have no choice but to defend itself.”
But sources here say the Sept. 27 phone call that triggered a thaw in the 34-year freeze between Washington and Tehran has sapped credibility of Netanyahu’s threats. As long as the White House remains directly involved in so-called P5 Plus 1 talks with Iran, they say, Israel cannot contemplate pre-emptive attack.
“Obama’s relationship with Rouhani may be warming up, but it’s forcing us to put unilateral strike options on ice,” said a former member of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) General Staff. Maj. Gen. Seyed Hassan Firouzabadi, Iran’s second-ranking military officer, dismissed Netanyahu’s threats as “desperation” that would not deter Tehran’s “peaceful nuclear program,” the semi-official Fars news agency quoted the officer as saying. Rouhani responded tauntingly to Netanyahu’s address via his official Twitter account: “Israel is upset to see that its sword has gone blunt and Iran grows more powerful day by day.” Continued: http://www.defensenews.com/article/20131007/

TIME 'HAS RUN OUT' FOR IRAN NUCLEAR WORK
Source: Intelligence agencies will conclude clock has struck, action required
Published: 5 hours ago 10.11.2013
WASHINGTON – F. Michael Maloof - WND Israel’s military practiced long-range missions and mid-air refueling over the past weekend even as Iran made clear that it will continue with the development of its nuclear program, which Israel is convinced is a cover for making nuclear weapons.
In fact, Israel believes Iran is pursuing negotiations with the U.S. to buy time to finalize its ability to enrich existing low-enriched uranium stockpiles to high-enriched uranium needed to make some seven or eight nuclear weapons.
But there’s now word that time may be short.
“The coming weeks probably represent the last opportunity for Iran and the international community to reach an enforceable deal that will dismantle Tehran’s nuclear weapons program, before Israel concludes that time has run, that Iran has gotten too close to creating its first atomic bombs, and that the time for a military strike has arrived,” according to regional expert Yaakov Lappin, whose articles appear in The Jerusalem Post.
Despite assurances from Iran that it is not embarked on a nuclear weapons program, Israeli officials say that Iran has not halted uranium enrichment with an increasing number of centrifuges that extract more enriched uranium that could be used for nuclear weapons.
Israeli officials believe that centrifuges at the underground nuclear facilities in Natanz and Qom continue the enrichment process unabated.
In addition, these sources assert that the heavy water plutonium facility at Arak also continues its production.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that talks between Western powers and Iran on October 15-16 aren’t going to amount to anything and will only buy Iran more time to enrich more uranium for what he says are nuclear weapons.
“A bad deal is worse than no deal,” Netanyahu told the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

ANONYMOUS HITS ISRAEL WITH A MASSIVE CYBER ATTACK, ISRAEL ATTACKS BACK
Adam Clark Estes 32,960 Views Apr 7, 2013 To ring in this year's Holocaust Memorial Day, the classy hackers at Anonymous took down a bunch of Israeli government websites on Sunday and say they caused over $3 billion in damage. But they didn't totally get away with it. Within a few hours of the attack which Anonymous says affected 100,000 websites, 40,000 Facebook pages, 5,000 Twitter accounts and 30,000 bank accounts, an Israeli hacker broke into the website that Anonymous had set up for the attack, dubbed Operation Israel. Instead of the original anti-Israel messages that were originally on the site to protest Israel's treatment of Palestine, the Israeli hacker rejiggered the site to play "Hatikvah," Israel's national anthem.
Israel's playing this one super cool. Despite Anonymous's claims of massive damage, the country's cyber security officials say that the attack caused minimal damage. "So far it is as was expected, there is hardly any real damage," Yitzhak Ben Yisrael from the government's National Cyber Bureau told the press. "Anonymous doesn't have the skills to damage the country's vital infrastructure. And if that was its intention, then it wouldn't have announced the attack ahead of time. It wants to create noise in the media about issues that are close to its heart." This is more or less what Anonymous always does, often with varying levels of success.http://www.theatlanticwire.com/

EXCLUSIVE ISRAELI TUNNEL HIT BY CYBER ATTACK
By DANIEL ESTRIN From Associated Press October 27, 2013 12:35 PM EST
HADERA, Israel (AP) — When Israel's military chief delivered a high-profile speech this month outlining the greatest threats his country might face in the future, he listed computer sabotage as a top concern, warning a sophisticated cyberattack could one day bring the nation to a standstill. Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz was not speaking empty words. Exactly one month before his address, a major artery in Israel's national road network in the northern city of Haifa suffered a cyberattack, cybersecurity experts tell The Associated Press, knocking key operations out of commission two days in a row and causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.
One expert, speaking on condition of anonymity because the breach of security was a classified matter, said a Trojan horse attack targeted the security camera apparatus in the Carmel Tunnels toll road on Sept. 8. A Trojan horse is a malicious computer program that users unknowingly install that can give hackers complete control over their systems.

ISRAELI CITY DIVIDED BY RELIGION AFTER CLOSE VOTE
By ARON HELLER - BEIT SHEMESH, Israel (AP) October 31, 2013 After a contentious mayoral election between secular and ultra-Orthodox rivals, this deeply divided city has become a flashpoint for a religious struggle that is threatening to tear Israel apart. Claiming the election was stolen, secular and moderately religious residents of Beit Shemesh are arranging large demonstrations against the ultra-Orthodox mayor, demanding a new vote and even suggesting the city be split in two. But the protests go far beyond the alleged election fraud. They cut at the very nature of Israel as it tries to maintain its character as both a Jewish state and a pluralistic democracy.
"I really feel like they (the ultra-Orthodox) are trying to conquer our city. It's not 'live and let live.' They are pushing us out," said Etti Amos, 56, who has lived in Beit Shemesh since her family emigrated from Morocco when she was a child. She said her three children have left town because they saw no future.
Ultra-Orthodox Jews make up about 10 percent of Israel's population. Maintaining a strict lifestyle that revolves around prayer, most live in ultra-Orthodox dominated towns or in insular neighborhoods in larger cities like Jerusalem.

ISRAEL STRIKES RUSSIAN WEAPON SHIPMENT IN SYRIA
By ZEINA KARAM and MIKE CORDER - From Associated Press - October 31, 2013 4:47 PM EST
BEIRUT (AP) — Israeli warplanes attacked a shipment of Russian missiles inside a Syrian government stronghold, officials said Thursday, a development that threatened to add another volatile layer to regional tensions from the Syrian civil war. The revelation came as the government of President Bashar Assad met a key deadline in an ambitious plan to eliminate Syria's entire chemical weapons stockpile by mid-2014 and avoid international military action.
The announcement by a global chemical weapons watchdog that the country has completed the destruction of equipment used to produce the deadly agents highlights Assad's willingness to cooperate, and puts more pressure on the divided and outgunned rebels to attend a planned peace conference.
An Obama administration official confirmed the Israeli airstrike overnight, but provided no details. Another security official said the attack occurred late Wednesday in the Syrian port city of Latakia and that the target was Russian-made SA-125 missiles. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the attack. There was no immediate confirmation from Syria.

OBSERVATION: IS WASHINGTON PUSHING SYRIA TO ATTACK ISRAEL?
Dr. Aaron Lerner – IMRA Date: 31 October 2013 - "Israeli warplanes struck a military base near the Syrian port city of Latakia this week, an Obama administration official told CNN on Thursday.." We Israelis have a pretty straightforward arrangement with Syrian President Assad: when we are compelled to strike Syrian targets we don't take credit for the attacks. President Assad knows damn well who is behind the attacks but in the absence of Israeli boasting he doesn't feel compelled to respond. Yet recently Washington has seen fit to rub Israel's responsibility for attacks in President Assad's face.
What is President Obama' team trying to achieve? Why are they pushing President Assad to retaliate against the Jewish State? And don't think for a moment that despite the bloodletting that Syria isn't still bristling with a full complement of rockets that have basically every point in Israel within range.
I don't have an answer. But if I were a Washington reporter I think that's the possibly the most interesting part of this story that I would want to follow up on. http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62217

The negotiators' bid for resignation can be either accepted or rejected by Abbas, who called for a PLO Executive Committee meeting to discuss the issue as soon as possible.
This decision comes shortly after Israel revealed plans to demolish the homes of over 15,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem in addition to announcing the construction of over 5,000 illegal settler homes in the occupied Palestinian territories. http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62215

Youssef Rizqa, presidential adviser in the Gaza Strip's Hamas government, has denied a claim by an Egyptian minister that a leading Muslim Brotherhood figure is hiding out in the Palestinian territory. Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim had claimed that deputy Supreme Guide Mahmouad Ezzat was in Gaza on Wednesday. "There are no Brotherhood leaders here," Rizqa told the Turkish Anadolu news agency on Thursday. "This is nothing but media speculation."
He claimed Egypt was instead attempting to justify tightening up border controls on the Gaza Strip, as well as its closure of the Rafah crossing and destruction of tunnels. http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62212

OBAMA SHOULD RETHINK APPROACH TO ISRAEL
By Ben Caspit – Al Monitor, Israel Pulse – October 29, 2013
http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2013/10/john-kerry-negotiations-obama-pollard-rihanna-concert.html
Dear Mr. President, I hope that you are not too upset about the commotion being created around the NSA’s [National Security Agency] eavesdropping incident. The diplomatic world in general, and the world of espionage in
particular, is a paradise of hypocrisy. I don’t think it would be too risky to conclude that there isn’t a single informed leader who does not begin with the assumption that all the various spy agencies make every effort to
eavesdrop on anyone they can. That means all of them, including [you]. Here, when Benjamin Netanyahu wants to hold a discussion without Ambassador Dan Shapiro getting a transcript of it in English (though Netanyahu does love
speaking English, even in his own discussions), he goes to Mossad headquarters. It is considered relatively safe from the ominous antennas posted on the roof of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv.Apparently, Israel also listens in to whomever it can, and it seems to me, Mr. President, that when you visited Israel last March, there were quite a few efforts to learn exactly what you said behind closed doors to your staff. Those are the rules of the game. True, the Europeans are getting all huffy now and acting like they are hurt, but that’s only because the leaker, Edward Snowden, exposed America publicly and forced you to admit, from atop the diving board, that there are things you do underwater in the public swimming pool shared by all of us. Nothing can be done about it. In an era in which a group of madmen with
enriched uranium can obliterate a city or land a crowded jet on a skyscraper, it is necessary to get used to concessions. One of those concessions is relinquishing privacy. The people who invented an electronic
network with which everyone can correspond with everyone else and post pictures of everyone else — a network based on the guiding principle of “file and content sharing” — cannot expect high standards of privacy.
So why am I writing to you, Mr. President? For one simple reason. Now that the whole world knows that you are shamelessly eavesdropping on your allies without distinction, now that everyone is talking about how you spy on all
your friends, all the time and everywhere, and after you forced Israel for the umpteenth time to release the worst of the murderers of its citizens back into the region, isn’t it time, Mr. President, to release Jonathan Pollard?
Forget about all the other considerations for a moment. Concentrate only on moral and human values. Pollard has been wasting away there, in the American federal prison system, for close to thirty years. His life is ruined. His
health has been destroyed. He will never start a family. He wasn’t at his mother’s funeral, and he was unable to bury his father. You have stomped him into the ground, without leaving any memory of him. He learned his lesson.
The Jews of America learned theirs. Israel learned its lesson too. And we must not forget that Pollard never killed, he never murdered, and he never eavesdropped. He transferred classified information to an “ally.” Yes, an
ally like the kind you listen to all the time, Mr. President. It is time for a purely humane act from you, Barack Obama. Release Jonathan Pollard. http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62200

OBAMA NO NEW SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN - UAE TO GIVE $3.9 BILLION O EGYPT
October 26, 2013 SOURCE: Jordan Times 26 Oct.’13:”Obama administration seeks pause in new
Iran sanctions push”, Associated Press
FULL TEXT:WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is asking Congress to hold off on enacting new sanctions against Iran. It says a pause in the push to impose new penalties would give negotiators flexibility in talks now under way to get Iran to comply with demands it prove its nuclear programme is peaceful. Even as US officials argue that tough sanctions are what brought Iran to the negotiating table in the first place, the White House and US State Department said Friday the administration wants lawmakers to wait on new sanctions legislation to give the negotiations time to get traction. Some lawmakers have argued that now is not the time to ease pressure and
that pursuing new sanctions will give the US additional leverage in the talks. But State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said it was the consensus of the administration’s national security teams that a pause “would be helpful in
terms of providing some flexibility while we see if these negotiations will move forward”.
She said the position was delivered to lawmakers and congressional aides at a White House meeting on Thursday.
“We have conveyed that any congressional action should be aligned with our negotiating strategy as we move forward. So while we understand that Congress may consider new sanctions, we think this is a time for a pause, as we asked for in the past, to see if negotiations can gain traction,” Psaki told reporters. She noted that additional sanctions can always be imposed later if the Iranians fail to meet their obligations, and she stressed that no existing sanctions are being lifted. IRAN CONTINUING TO ENRICH URANIUM TO 20% LEVEL MP
PRESS TV (Iran) Sat Oct 26, 2013 11:8AM GMT
http://presstv.com/detail/2013/10/26/331393/iran-continuing-20-enrichment/
Senior Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi says Iran is continuing the enrichment of uranium to the 20-percent purity level. Iran’s nuclear energy activities continue as in the past, said Boroujerdi, who is the chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis, on Saturday. Iran decided to enrich uranium to the 20-percent purity to provide fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor, which produces medical isotopes for cancer
patients, after potential suppliers failed to provide the Islamic Republic with the required uranium. “During the talks with the P5+1, the Islamic Republic of Iran called for the recognition of its nuclear rights and the lifting of sanctions [against the country]. We should wait for the outcome of these negotiations,” Boroujerdi said.
He added that expert-level talks between Iran and the six major world powers would begin this week, emphasizing, “We should wait for their viewpoint.”
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - Russia, China, France, Britain and the US - plus Germany held two days of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear energy program behind closed doors in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 15-16. The two sides agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8. Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said on Thursday that nuclear and sanctions experts from Iran and the six world powers are to meet in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on October 30 and 31 in the run-up to the upcoming nuclear talks in Geneva.
Iran maintains that as a committed member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. SF/NN/HJL

ISRAEL DENIES EU DELEGATION ENTRY TO GAZA
Published today (updated) 25/10/2013 15:32 By Charlie Hoyle
http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=641044
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Israeli government on Wednesday denied an official European Union delegation entry to the Gaza Strip, claiming the visit would strengthen the ruling Hamas movement. Six members of an EU Parliament delegation to the Palestinian Legislative Council were due to visit Gaza from Oct. 27-30 in a trip largely focused on
social, economic and humanitarian issues, including visits to UNRWA health centers, schools, food distribution centers, rehabilitation centers and sports clubs.
The MEPs, from a cross-section of political parties representing six EU member states, were informed in an email by Israeli authorities that they would not be allowed into Gaza via the Erez crossing for the three-day visit, which also included trips to Christian schools, a sports clubs and the University of Palestine.
Emer Costello, chair of the European Parliament's delegation to the Palestinian Legislative Council, said she was "astounded and dismayed" by Israel's decision to refuse an official EU visit. "Despite interventions by the President of Parliament and other distinguished Parliamentarians, the Israeli Authorities are preventing elected members of an official delegation from paying a humanitarian visit to this ravaged and impoverished little country," Costello said in a
statement. In an email to the delegation obtained by Ma'an, an Israeli diplomat in Europe responded that the delegation was denied "in line with the policy according to which Israel does not facilitate visits to the Gaza Strip which
will strengthen Hamas, a terror organization designated as such also by the European Union."
The diplomat, David Saranga, also claimed in the message that Israel did not refuse an official visit of the EU delegation to Gaza but rather "refused the use of its territory to enter the Gaza Strip." Costello said Israel's decision was "deplorable and without foundation," adding that she had requested that EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton
take up the issue with Israeli authorities. Continued: http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62164

PM NETANYAHU MEETS WITH US SECRETARY OF STATE KERRY IN ROME
PM Netanyahu: It is essential that Iran be made to live up to Security Council resolutions that demand an end to enrichment and enrichment capability and an end to plutonium heavy water capability toward fissile material for nuclear weapons.
(Communicated by he Prime Minister's Media Adviser) 23 October 2013 - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Wednesday, 23 October 2013), met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome and said at the start of their meeting: "The foremost security problem that we face as you said is Iran's quest for nuclear weapons. Preventing that is a goal I share with you and President Obama, and you have said, I think wisely, that Iran must not have a nuclear weapons capability, which means that they shouldn't have centrifuges or enrichment. They shouldn't have a plutonium heavy water plant, which is used only for nuclear weapons. They should get rid of the advanced fissile
material and they shouldn't have underground nuclear facilities, underground for one reason – for military purposes.
I think you're right. I think no deal is better than a bad deal. I think a partial deal that leaves Iran with these capabilities is a bad deal. You wisely insisted there wouldn't be a partial deal with Syria. You were right. If Assad had said, you know, "I am ready to dismantle 90%, 50% or 80% of my chemical weapons capability," you would have refused and correctly so, and I think in the case of Iran, it is essential that it be made to live up to Security Council resolutions that demand an end to enrichment and enrichment capability and an end to plutonium heavy water capability toward fissile
material for nuclear weapons. Continued: http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62161

7. “We do not trust them. We consider the government of the United States of
America an unreliable, arrogant, illogical, and hegemonic government that is
badly possessed and dominated by the international Zionist network….The
government of the United States of America is blackmailing the entire world,
appeasing the forged Zionist regime….We do not trust the U.S. government. We
trust our own officials. We are optimists and we want them [the officials]
to take right and firm steps carefully and considering all aspects. They
should not forget national interests and dignity even for a second.”

RUSSIA ON SAUDI DECISION NOT TO SERVE IN UN SECURITY COUNCIL
Comment of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry of Russia in connection with the election of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council
2051-18-10-2013 http://www.mid.ru/brp_4.nsf/newsline/89F49FDA94A35AF444257C080048CA0D
[Google translation]
October 17 by a vote in the UN General Assembly elected five non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the period 2014-2015 . - Lithuania, Nigeria , Saudi Arabia, Chad, Chile , nominated by their regional groups on
the basis of the applications of these states. However, after the completion of the election to the UN General Assembly, the Saudi news agency issued an official statement of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country refuses to place in the Security Council , referring to some "double standards" in the Council , the working methods which allegedly did not allow him to exercise his functions in the maintenance of international peace and security.
Surprised by such an unprecedented decision of Saudi Arabia, whose candidacy for election in the General Assembly was supported by the overwhelming majority of UN member states . Puzzling is the argument of the Kingdom in
support of its position . Reproaches to the UN Security Council in the context of the Syrian crisis sounded particularly strange after the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2118, which forms the legal framework
for a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in Syria. Thus, in its decision of Saudi Arabia itself from a collective work under the United Nations Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security.
We expect that the Asian regional group in the near future will determine the other candidate for a non-permanent member of the Security Council , to the UN General Assembly was able to complete the election process.
We presume that by participating in the work of the Security Council , the new non-permanent members of the Council will promote the rule of law in international relations , enhance the key role of the UN Security Council in
dealing with crisis situations , to assert the priority of peaceful political and diplomatic methods to resolve them without interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign States on the basis of strict observance of the UN Charter.
Russia, for its part, is ready for constructive cooperation with all the newly elected members of the UN Security Council. October 18, 2013 http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=62161
