JORDAN MOVES TO SCRAP PEACE TREATY OVER ARREST OF JERUSLAEM MUFTI
The arrest of the Jerusalem Mufti on Tuesday for throwing chairs at Jews on the Temple Mount prompted the Jordanian parliament on Wednesday to demand that King Abdullah expel the Israeli envoy. The legislators also called to start a draft for a law to scrap the peace treaty with Israel.
Police arrested an Arab from entering the Temple Mount, and an enraged Grand Mufti and other Arabs began throwing plastic chairs at five Jews who entered the Temple Mount under police escort. Arab media said they prostrated themselves, an act of prayer that the Waqf prohibits, except for Muslims.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told The Washington Post the group did not carry out any act of prayer. As usual, Palestinian Authority media exaggerated the entire scene. Arab media always report that Jews “stormed” the Temple Mount. The Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency reported that 50, and not five, Jews prostrated themselves.
Israeli police stepped in to end the clash before it could get out of hand and arrested the Mufti, a rare action.
It did not take much time for Jordan to hear of the altercation, and the country’s parliament unanimously agreed that the kingdom should expel the Israeli ambassador and recall its own ambassador from Tel Aviv. The parliament added its own imagination to the facts and claimed that Israel is trying to build a bridge between the Al Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem “settlements.” The parliament also called for drafting legislation to scrap the peace treaty with Israel.
Several hours later, Israel released the Mufti, which probably was not related to the Jordanian parliament’s move. The government knows full well that the Arab world will not sit passive with the Jerusalem Mufti being taken from his home for interrogation. SPOKESMAN OF ABBAS: NO COMPROMISE ON PRECONDITIONS FOR TALKS
Abu Rudeineh said that Abbas affirmed the Palestinian national fixed positions regarding the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital based on the 1967 borders, and the release of prisoners.

PLO NEWS: RISE IN NUMBER OF JEWS IN AL-AQSA MOSQUE
JERUSALEM, July 1, 2013 (WAFA- PLO news agency) – Number of Israeli Jews visiting the Muslim al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City on Monday has witnessed a significant rise in attempt to create new facts on the ground, al-Aqsa Foundation said in a statement.
It said small groups of Israeli fanatics and around 60 uniformed female Israeli soldiers toured the compound in what appears to be an attempt to have daily presence for Jews on the Muslim site.
Reports earlier quoted an Israeli rabbi saying that the Israel Security Service encourages Israeli Jews to visit al-Aqsa Mosque area in order to create permanent presence for Jews on the site which they claim was the location of the Jewish temple more than 2000 years ago.
Muslims fear Israeli fanatics backed by officials aim to destroy their holy sites in order to build a Jewish temple on their ruins. They warn that such an act would provoke violence. http://english.wafa.ps/index.php?action=detail&id=22734

EVANGELICALS FOR HAMAS!
The Anti-Israel Group Speaking In U.S. Mega-Churches
Jesus at the Check Point is a “Christian” organization with a liberal socialist twist – and will soon be speaking at a church near you. The group is touring to muster support to alleviate “Christian Persecution,” or so they claim.
The organization’s motto is “non-violent resistance against the Israeli Zionist occupation.” “Zionism is the obstacle to peace,” they write, and they want to “educate evangelical Christians” to “understand the Bible from a Palestinian Christian perspective,” which openly supports a “divided state” as the solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The main dynamo and sponsoring agent of these tours is Bethlehem Bible College in Bethlehem, Israel. Its Second International Conference was led by a Palestinian family, the Awads, including Sami Awad, Bishara Awad and Alex Awad. Claiming to be evangelical Baptists, the Awads were able to muster some influential figures. Several American evangelicals they recruited had taken action to bring them into American churches.
But what many in the West do not know is that this group has nothing to do with being Baptists, nor are involved in any way shape or form with Christian persecution. There is no mention whatsoever by this group of any persecution by Islamists against Christians in the Middle East. The persecution against Christians, they say, emanates from the Jewish presence in all of biblical Judea, Jews they claim confiscated Arab lands.
According to them, it’s the Zionists, not Hamas, that persecute Christians. In fact they promote Hamas’ legitimacy and fully support terrorism, but not as their tactic. To them, terrorism is legitimate as a tactic for other Palestinian groups so long that these are resisting what they term as “Israeli occupation.”

ISLAMIC: DEVELOPMENT BANK CONSIDERS $10 BILLION FUNDING FOR EGYPT
Thursday, June 27, 2013 - Saudi Arabia based lender grants $300 million to EGPC; studies Egypt's request for $10 billion for infrastructure projects over 5 years Ahram Online, Wednesday 26 Jun 2013
The Islamic Development Bank is considering a recent request by Egypt for $10 billion in funding for infrastructure development projects, to be provided over the next five years, said the Egyptian finance ministry in a statement on Wednesday.
On Monday, Egypt received a $300 million loan from the Saudi Arabia-based bank to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, Egypt’s state authority for petroleum, according to the statement.
The loan is part of a total $1 billion loan agreement signed by Egypt with the IDB in July of last year aimed at funding food and energy imports.
Egypt is suffering yet another bout of fuel shortages, which the government has attributed to technical issues, but which some commentators blame on the lack of dollar liquidity and its impact on fuel imports.
The Egyptian pound, which has been steadily slipping against the dollar since the Central Bank of Egypt began auctioning foreign currency in late December, fell below LE7 to the US dollar on the official exchange market on 19 June.
In the Tuesday meeting with Egypt’s Finance Minister Fayyad Abdel-Moneim, Ahmed Mohamed Ali, head of the Islamic Development Bank Group reiterated the bank’s commitment to helping Egypt surmount its formidable economic challenges, having already granted it $6 billion in funds.
Ali pledged to send an IDB team to Cairo to begin discussions on the requested $10 billion loan in September.

It further urged the international community, mainly human rights organizations, the Red Cross and Arab and international parliamentary unions, to take immediate action to ease the suffering of the detainees, ensure their safety and allow their families to visit them.
The House expressed pride in all prisoners in Israeli jails for their steadfastness against the Israeli arrogance, adding that it will not spare its efforts to follow up on their issues with the government to achieve their demands.

ODDEST PEACE QUIP YET BY SHIMON PERES
Thursday, June 27, 2013 - There are two wings of the airplane – one to defend the country and the other to provide the alternative of peace..
[AL: Was something lost in the translation?]
President Peres delivered remarks at the Israeli Air Force Graduation Ceremony
President Shimon Peres, this afternoon (Thursday, 27 June 2013), delivered remarks at the Israel Air Force Graduation Ceremony: President Peres addressed the threats and challenges Israel is facing and said, "Over the past 50 years, Israel's Air Force remains the best in the world. When you throw your berets in the air you will become the young guard – the next generation of the best air force in the world. You will hold in your hands the controls of the airplane which are also the controls of the security of the State of Israel and protect the country and its skies. Israel is facing complex and multiple challenges. The IDF, and the IAF, has the ability to deal with those challenges and threats. The reputation of the IAF is part of Israel's deterrent system."
President Peres continued and said, "As well as challenges we also face new opportunities. These become clearer when we look at the regional map from above. I know you will ensure our country is in a position to push back against the threats and maximize the opportunities. Whether that opportunity is renewing the negotiations between us and the Palestinians, which can be done immediately. Or the threat which is a common threat to the entire world. There are two wings of the airplane – one to defend the country and the other to provide the alternative of peace."

PMW BULLETIN: ABBAS LIBELS ISRAEL TRYING TO DESTROY AL-AQSA
PMW Bulletin June 26, 2013 Abbas libels Israel: "[Israel's] evil and dangerous plot to destroy Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and build the alleged Temple"
By Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas continues to promote the PA libel that Israel is scheming and acting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. In an interview to the Saudi paper Al-Watan, Abbas also added that the Arab and Islamic world should be doing more to respond to Israel's plans:
Abbas: "All these [Israeli] actions indicate an evil and dangerous plot to destroy Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and build the alleged Temple. Unfortunately, these dangers, which are clear for everyone to see, have yet to receive proper Arab, Islamic and international responses."
Abbas' reference to the "alleged Temple" is part of the language the PA routinely uses to deny Israel's history in Jerusalem, as reported by Palestinian Media Watch, and refers to the false PA claim that there never was a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Abbas presents taking Jerusalem from Israel as an Islamic mandate. In a speech at the Arab Summit in 2010, Abbas told Arab leaders that taking Jerusalem away from Israel is a religious Islamic obligation of the highest level, a "fard ayn" - a personal Islamic commandment incumbent on every Muslim:
Abbas: "I say to the leaders of our Arab nation and to its peoples: Jerusalem and its environs are a trust that Allah entrusted to us. Saving it [Jerusalem] from the settlement monster and the danger of Judaization and confiscation is a personal [Islamic] commandment [Arabic: fard ayn] incumbent on all of us. Therefore, I call all of you to serious and urgent action to save [Jerusalem] and to make available all possibilities in order to strengthen our resolve and to maintain its historical, cultural and religious character."
[Al-Jazeera TV, March 27, 2010]
Abbas has also cited his Islamic beliefs as an indicator that Israel will not endure in Jerusalem. According to him, Jerusalem is only Islamic and therefore Israel's capital is destined to be under Islam:
Abbas: "An oppressor will not last in Jerusalem; oppression will not endure. Victory will come, Allah willing. This land is Allah's best land, for which He chooses the finest of His believers, as was said by the Prophet [Muhammad]."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 11, 2010]
The PA's policy to deny Israel's history is exemplified by an official PA TV News story about excavations near the Western Wall, which reported that Israeli archeologists "falsify historical facts" because the Temple existed "only in the minds of radical organizations":
"Deep underground beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque, there's [an Israeli] race against the clock to complete the excavations in search of [Jerusalem's] Temple that exists only in the minds of radical organizations... They falsify historical facts by linking them to Jewish history, the traces of which don't exist in our land."
[PA TV (Fatah), Oct. 25, 2012]
The PA Mufti Muhammad Hussein on PA TV News likewise denied Jewish history in Jerusalem:
PA Mufti: "They [Jews] want to say or suggest that this place (the Temple Mount) was once, according to their claim, a Temple. However, in truth, there never was a Temple in any period, nor was there, at any time, any place of worship for the Jews or others at the Al-Aqsa Mosque site (i.e., built on the Temple Mount, 705 CE)."
[PA TV (Fatah), Jan. 5, 2012]
The Mufti has also repeatedly claimed that Israel plans to destroy the Mosque and build the "alleged Temple":
"The [PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories Sheikh Muhammad Hussein summoned citizens to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to fill it and defend it, especially in light of recent threats from extremist settlers and senior Israeli officials who called for an invasion of the mosque and to impose Israeli sovereignty over it in order to build their alleged Temple."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 7, 2013]
PMW has documented that the denial of Jewish history in Jerusalem and in Israel in general remains an important aspect of PA ideology, and is the basis for their ongoing denial of Israel's right to exist.
The following is a longer excerpt of Abbas' interview to the Saudi paper Al-Watan:
Q: "Jewish organizations are making frantic efforts, both visible and hidden, to complete the Judaizing of the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and to take control of it, especially following the recurring invasions of Al-Aqsa and the attacks on worshipers. What affect do you think this has [both] on the Palestinian level and on the regional level? And do you think that the Arab and Islamic responses are at the adequate level?"
A: "We've said on several occasions that Al-Aqsa is in danger because the excavations Israel is conducting in the Haram (i.e., the Temple Mount) and beneath its foundations put it in danger of collapse. Likewise, preventing West Bank Palestinian worshipers from entering the Mosque and giving free rein to radical Jews to enter its courtyards and conduct their religious ceremonies - all these actions indicate an evil and dangerous plot to destroy Al-Aqsa and build the alleged Temple. Unfortunately, these dangers, which are clear for everyone to see, have yet to receive proper Arab, Islamic and international responses. Most countries have not implemented the Arab and Islamic Summit's resolutions for providing assistance to Jerusalem's residents and institutions." http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=9268
